Finally at the sewing machine

Yeah! My sewing area has been mostly clean an usable for the last couple of weeks with NO time to use it! So today I ceased the chance to FINALLY get some work done!

I finished:
A dress for the princess I designed (see picture)
Learned how to do a blind hem and altered 1 pair of my pants and 2 skirts for my mil.
AND picked out a couple patterns to work on for me cause even my 3 year old knows mommy needs some new clothes!

So here's to getting some work done and hopefully working my way through the ever growing stash of material at my house!

Date Night

Today is date night with my hubby... we are going to dinner and a movie with a friend and his girlfriend. So I leave you with a few of my favorite marriage quotes:

A successful marriage requires falling in love many times, always with the same person. ~Mignon McLaughlin, The Second Neurotic's Notebook, 1966

In a time when nothing is more certain than change, the commitment of two people to one another has become difficult and rare. Yet, by its scarcity, the beauty and value of this exchange have only been enhanced. ~Robert Sexton

Marriage means commitment. Of course, so does insanity. ~Author Unknown

Almost no one is foolish enough to imagine that he automatically deserves great success in any field of activity; yet almost everyone believes that he automatically deserves success in marriage. ~Sydney J. Harris

Green thumb? Not hardly!

Its that time of year again... gardening season... I have been looking off and on at seeds, plants and gardening tips and tricks. My last garden, out of the approximately 15 plants, I had 1... yes you read that right just one plant that gave me a very small fruit. Ah. Its a start anyway. I got attacked by grasshoppers - about 100+ of the little suckers so most of my plants haven't made it at all. Will be posting a list later on my list of plants and how they do

UH OH hubby's home....

So hubby has been gone for the last year or so and has just come home about a month ago. YEAH!!!!!!!! *happy dance* However that hasn't left a lot of time for ME OR MY CRAFTS. BOOOOOOOOO.... ANYWAY. I was talking to my dear sweet craft delaying hubby the other day about making me a craft room so I can get all organized FINALLY. (when you go from one end of the house to sew to the other end to serge it gets a little annoying...) When he comments on my stash of fabric. *GASP* "Its like an addiction for you" WAHHHHHHH!!!! So it seems I need to do some stash busting *sigh*

Here's my tentative plan:

Rule 1: no buying any fabric EXCEPT for a specific project. Meaning I MUST use it with in a month. (dd needs some new pants lol.)

Rule 2: Make a project... if I don't like it GIVE IT AWAY! DO NOT KEEP TO REFASHION! *sigh* this will be the hardest one.

What I need to make:

Finish DH's neon shirt.
Finish Brother's blanket
Finish Misc. projects ;)
Make drape dress for me by lengthening a shirt pattern.
Make night gowns for dd and ME
Make Hello kitty dress for dd.

I LOVE Free!

This whole dress was.... you guessed it FREE!!

Its made out of an upcycled old mens dress shirt of my hubby's (I mean who needs 3!! black shirts anyway!?!?!) and some fabric my grandmother gave me that I would NEVER wear myself! (I think it's a poly-knit something or another that reminds me of my grandmother's PJ's!) The pattern is my own! and I am SOOOOO proud of it!

Now before you think "sheesh... is that ALL she's done in that amount of time?!" NO I've been working on other projects too - my attention is short when it comes to most projects so I normally have several things cooking at once. I am currently working on a rustic rag quilt for my brother for christmas, a knit diaper soaker for.... not really any reason other than I felt like knitting something and enjoyed making it... We are planning on trying for #2 soon and you can never start making early enough! I may end up selling or trading some of them off for different things if I make WAY too many! For now though it amuses me and I like being amused ;)

Happy crafting!
